The Emergency Services (Fire Service & Civil Defence) provide professional help to visitors and the people of Westmeath in an emergency.
The Fire Service is there to provide an immediate emergency response.

Civil Defence provides a number of services to the public. Members of Civil Defence are people in the community. It takes longer for Civil Defence to respond, but Civil Defence can provide its services for a long period of time.
Civil Defence
Civil Defence is a volunteer based organisation. Members are proud to serve as high quality backup to primary emergency services and the community.

Major Emergency Plan
This plan puts in place arrangements to enable the Gardaí, HSE and the Local Authorities to co-ordinate their efforts whenever a major emergency occurs.
Water Safety
