Pre-draft Public Consultation
Public participation is an essential element in the preparation of the Westmeath County Development Plan 2014-2020. The County Development Plan review provides a number of opportunities for public participation throughout the process. The Pre-draft Consultation period runs from the 22nd February to the 17th April 2012.
As part of the pre-draft consultation stage, the Council has published an Issues Booklet to encourage public participation in the preparation of the new County Development Plan. The booklet describes some of the characteristics and features of the county, recent trends in development and likely influences on the Development Plan. It is intended to stimulate debate and to encourage people to think about Co. Westmeath, what it represents and means to them and what important subjects the next Development Plan should address. It is imperative that the Development Plan reflects the wishes and aspirations of the people who live in County Westmeath. These papers present some of the issues which the Council consider important to the plan. They do not purport to cover all the issues. We want you to tell us what issues are of most concern to you. This initial stage will involve the Council targeting a number of sectoral interests, such as employers, youth and the community and voluntary sector, in order to ascertain their views. Children, or groups or associations representing the interests of children, are entitled to make submissions at the pre-draft consultation phase of the County Development Plan process.
Members of the public are then invited to make submissions on the issues of relevance to them. Requests or proposals for zoning of particular land for any purpose shall not be considered at this stage.
Submissions can be made by email to cdp@westmeathcoco.ie or by post to County Development Plan Submissions, Forward Planning Section, Westmeath County, County Buildings, Mullingar.
Please note that requests or proposals for the zoning of particular land for any purpose shall not be considered at this stage. Any such submissions shall be returned.
Go on. Make a submission!
