The Council provides support for the existing professional, voluntary, community and amateur arts sectors. We also provide information and advice to the community on all Arts related issues.
In January 2002 Westmeath County Council employed the first Arts Officer for the county. Since then, through a continued commitment to the arts, the County Council has expanded its support for and contribution to the ongoing development of the arts in County Westmeath. The County Arts Office aims to promote access, appreciation, awareness and enjoyment of the arts for all citizens of County Westmeath.
The Office also aims to stimulate interest in and to promote the knowledge and appreciation of the Arts throughout the County.

There are a variety of locations throughout this midlands county that are just waiting for your production crew to start shooting.
Midlands Arts Magazine
Midland Arts and Culture Magazine is a free publication about the arts in the Midland counties of Westmeath, Offaly, Laois and Longford.
Public Art
Creating an imaginative, innovative and co-ordinated public art programme sensitive to the cultural, geographic, socio-economic, historical and environmental character of the County.
Westmeath Arts Plan 2010-2016
The Council launched its second arts plan in May 2010. The plan sets out our policy for promoting and developing the arts in Westmeath over the next 6 years.
