The Rural Water Programme facilitates the development of water services in rural areas of the County.
Through the 2011 Programme the Council facilitated:
- The construction of 1 new group water scheme serving 44 houses
- Upgrade of 5 group water schemes and taking-in-charge of 5 existing group water scheme
- 10 grants towards provision of new or upgrade of existing private water supply wells
- Upgrading of existing water services infrastructure under the Small Schemes Programme
Mount Temple Mains Extension
Mount Temple Mains Extension was carried in in 2011. The Project involved the construction of approximately 4,900m of HPPE watermains, fittings and consumer connections in Baylin and Mount Temple, Co. Westmeath. The Contract was completed in July, 2011.
Mabrista Mains Replacement Contract.
Mabrista Mains Replacement Contract was carried out in 2011. The Project involved the replacement of approximately 870m of existing PVC watermains, fittings and consumer connections with new PE watermains in Mabrista, Co. Westmeath. This Contract was completed in November, 2011.
Rochfortbridge Cast Iron Watermain Replacement.
Rochfortbridge Cast Iron Watermain Replacement was carried out in 2011. This Project involved the replacement of 1000m of Cast Iron distribution watermains at Rochfortbridge, Co Westmeath. This Contract was completed in September, 2011.
