Mullingar Area Committee

Mullingar Area committee covers two electoral areas, Mullingar East and Mullingar West. The inaugural meeting of the Area Committee was held on the 26th March, 2001 and since then the Committee has been meeting bi-monthly.  Members are allowed to put forward four Notices of Motion and three Questions for discussion at each meeting.  They deal with issues such as allocation of paid parking funds for specific projects around the town of Mullingar, road maintenance, flooding, environmental and water services issues, taking in charge of housing estates and various other issues relating specifically to the Mullingar east and west electoral areas.

If the Cathaoirleach of Mullingar Town Council is not an elected Member of Westmeath County Council, he/she is entitled to participate as a Member of the Mullingar Area Committee for the term of his/her Chairmanship.
